Charles Loyd was born June 20, 1948, in Preston, Georgia, the beloved son of the late Ruby Taggart. He went to our God on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at PRISMA Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.
Charles lived a beautiful and honorable life filled with service, generosity, and love. A United States Army Veteran, he proudly served his country and later continued his dedication to service through his career at Fort Jackson in South Carolina, where he worked faithfully until his retirement.
Charles was known as a generous and caring man, always giving and always making sure that everyone around him was well. His kindness, strength, and unwavering support touched the lives of many.
In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda B. Loyd, with whom he is now reunited; and his cherished Goddaughter and sunflower, Christina and his fur baby Baker. We take comfort that they are together again.
He leaves to cherish fond and precious memories to his son, Taj (TeKinya) Bostic, of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Taj Downing, Essence Downing, NyAsia Bostic, Aleya Bostic, Taja Bostic and Amani Bostic. Chona Grant, the mother of his grandchildren, Kristin Brown, Quinton Brown and JaQuan Brown all of Columbia, SC; goddaughter, Thania M. Lama; as well as a host of other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss him.
Charles Loyd will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever honored.
May he rest in peace!
